Transformer Capacity and Loss Characteristics Testing

China's power system implements a two-part tariff: in addition to the charges based on metering devices, basic electricity fees are also collected according to transformer capacity; for larger users, a one-time capacity increase fee must be paid when the transformer is put into operation. With the development of the power industry and the increase in electricity consumption, self-owned transformers and individually contracted transformers have gradually occupied a considerable share of distribution transformers. Consequently, individuals have resorted to various fraudulent means (mainly altering or replacing transformer nameplates) to reduce fees and increase electricity usage; some users evade electricity fees amounting to hundreds of thousands of yuan annually, and the power sector lacks effective control measures.

The Transformer Capacity and Loss Characteristics Tester is a high-precision instrument specifically developed and manufactured by our company to address this issue, designed for measuring transformer capacity and loss parameters. It comes with a high-efficiency rechargeable battery and can operate without an external power supply; a single charge allows for continuous testing of 500 units. Additionally, it internally generates a three-phase standard sine wave signal (not a simple inverter AC output, ensuring the accuracy of test data under non-rated conditions), and through a power amplifier, it can provide a three-phase precision AC test source. When measuring transformer capacity and short-circuit losses, there is no need for external three-phase test power supplies, voltage regulators, current boosters, or other auxiliary equipment, simplifying wiring and greatly improving work efficiency.

The capacity test results achieve 100% accuracy. One device is equivalent to four devices: Transformer Capacity and Loss Characteristics Tester + Transformer Loss Parameter Tester + Harmonic Analyzer + Oscilloscope. It can precisely measure a series of power frequency parameters such as capacity, no-load current, no-load loss, short-circuit loss, and impedance voltage for various transformers. It can also measure voltage and current distortion rates and harmonic content during no-load and load tests, and perform vector analysis.
